Looking to explore the New World, Sir Walter Raleigh prevails upon Lord Leicester to introduce him to Queen Elizabeth I. The explorer and the aging Queen strike up an unexpected warm friendship, but complications ensue when Raleigh falls in love with a beautiful lady-in-waiting and the Queen finds out.
